Bob Woodward’s new book ‘War’ revealed
“Trump’s order to shoot down North Korean ICBM
Mattis prays at church over concerns about nuclear war
Ahead of the U.S. presidential election on the 5th of next month, Republican presidential candidate and former president Donald Trump is mentioning ‘increasing the defense cost sharing for U.S. forces in Korea’ during his campaign, but his key aides are using ‘behind the scenes diplomacy’ to allay the concerns of allies such as South Korea and Japan. It has been claimed that .
Bob Woodward, deputy editor of the Washington Post (WP), who reported on the ‘Watergate incident’ in 1974, said in his book ‘War (photo)’ published on the 15th, “Former White House National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien (candidate Trump’s close associate) and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Ambassador to the United States Cho Hyun-dong and argued that Trump’s second term would be reasonable and predictable.” They also said, “They said that candidate Trump also recognizes that the ROK-US relationship is important to the mutual security of both countries.”
Woodward also introduced that Ambassador Cho told him, “If candidate Trump returns to power, former aide O’Brien will be the final candidate for the next Secretary of State.”
Woodward also revealed that candidate Trump delegated authority to shoot down North Korean missiles to former Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis when he was in office. The timing of this statement is believed to have been in the second half of 2017 (July to December), when tensions between North Korea and the United States reached their peak due to North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test.
Woodward said that candidate Trump’s impulsive and insensitive attitude toward nuclear war with North Korea terrified diplomatic and security staff at the time. The book also contains information that former Secretary Mattis was worried about nuclear war with North Korea and slept in sportswear so that he could attend emergency meetings at any time. At the time, former Secretary Mattis is said to have even visited the Washington Cathedral to pray as he prepared for the possibility of having to use nuclear weapons against North Korea.
Woodward also reported in his 2020 book ‘Rage’ that former Secretary Mattis told him, “If word had gotten out that North Korean missiles were heading toward Seattle (Western United States), we would have already been launching interceptor missiles.”
The book also contains information that recent military cooperation between North Korea and Russia has increased concerns that North Korea could develop nuclear weapons capable of attacking the U.S. mainland.
