jpnn.comJAKARTA – Voxpol Center Executive Director Pangi Syarwi Chaniago said that Airlangga Hartarto’s decision to resign from the position of Golkar General Chairman did indeed give rise to speculation.

Ipang – Pangi’s nickname – assessed that the speculation was closely related to Airlangga’s reasons for suddenly announcing his resignation from the prestigious position on Sunday (11/8).

“There are many public assumptions and clearly this is certainly surprising and shocking,” Pangi told the media crew, Monday (12/8).

He heard several parties analyzing Airlangga’s resignation because the Coordinating Minister for the Economy was closer to Prabowo Subianto as the president-elect than President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“I heard the reason for his resignation was because Airlangga’s communication intensity tended to be towards 08 (code referring to Prabowo, ed.) rather than to Mr. Jokowi,” said Pangi.

According to him, several other parties also told him about the reason Airlangga resigned because the man born in East Java was more accommodating to Prabowo’s interests than Jokowi’s in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections.

“There is also a reason that the regional election recommendation seats accommodate the interests of 08 more than Mr. Jokowi,” said Pangi.

However, the lecturer at Bung Karno University (UBK) assessed that the main reason Airlangga resigned from the Golkar General Chair position was to maintain internal solidarity.
