Regarding the work of the Missionaries of Charity, Mother Teresa clarified that “we are not social workers. We may be doing social work in the eyes of the people,” however, “we are true contemplatives in the heart of the world, because we do not stop touching the Body of Christ 24 hours a day. We maintain 24 hours of this presence.”

“And so I am here talking to you, I want you to find the poor here, before anywhere else, in their own home. And start loving there. Be the good news for your own people. And find out about the situation of your neighbor. Do you know who they are?,” he continued.

“I believe that in our families we do not need bombs and firearms to destroy peace, but rather to live together, loving each other, bringing that peace, that joy, that strength of the presence of each of us in the home. And then we will be able to overcome all the evil that exists in the world,” said the nun.
