Ravens Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Leaves Game with Ankle Injury

CINCINNATI — In what has been a challenging start to the season healthwise for the Baltimore Ravens, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. became the latest starter to exit a game due to injury.

During Sunday’s 27-24 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, Beckham was ruled out in the third quarter with an ankle injury. The injury occurred on the opening drive when Beckham briefly left the game and was attended to by a doctor on the sideline. He finished the game with three catches for 29 yards.

This injury adds to the ongoing trend of health issues faced by the Ravens this season. Prior to Week 2, Baltimore was already without five injured starters. Running back J.K. Dobbins had been placed on injured reserve due to an Achilles injury, while offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (knee), center Tyler Linderbaum (ankle), cornerback Marlon Humphrey (foot), and safety Marcus Williams (pectoral) were inactive.

Interestingly, this marks the third consecutive game against the Bengals in which Beckham has suffered an injury. In 2020, while playing for the Cleveland Browns, he tore his ACL in his left knee during a game in Cincinnati. Then, in February 2022, as a member of the Los Angeles Rams, Beckham injured his left knee again in the Super Bowl against the Bengals.

Despite Beckham’s absence, the Ravens still boast a deep wide receiver corps. Quarterback Lamar Jackson can rely on three first-round draft picks at the position: Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Nelson Agholor.

The Ravens will now have to regroup and adjust their game plan as they face the challenge of continuing their strong start to the season without the dynamic playmaker that Beckham brings to the field.
