Swiss skier Marco Odermatt secured a decisive victory in the World Cup super-G at Kitzbuehel, further cementing his status as a top contender for Olympic gold next month.
- Marco Odermatt won the Kitzbuehel super-G with a time of 1 minute, 8.41 seconds.
- This is Odermatt’s second consecutive super-G win at Kitzbuehel.
- The 28-year-old earned €101,000 ($118,000) for the win.
- Odermatt is still seeking his first downhill victory at the Austrian resort.
World champion Marco Odermatt demonstrated his prowess on Friday, blazing through the 2.1 kilometer Streifalm course in brilliant sunshine. The Swiss skier completed the run in a swift 1 minute, 8.41 seconds, leaving competitors in his wake and bolstering his chances for success at the upcoming Olympic Games.
A Repeat Performance on the Streifalm
Odermatt’s victory marks a repeat performance, as he also claimed the Kitzbuehel super-G title last year. Despite his success in the super-G discipline at the renowned Austrian resort, a downhill win at Kitzbuehel remains elusive for the 28-year-old.
The Olympic giant slalom gold medalist from Beijing four years ago, Odermatt, took home a substantial prize of €101,000 (approximately $118,000) for his latest triumph. He has the opportunity to add to his earnings, with similar jackpots available for Saturday’s downhill and Sunday’s slalom competitions.
