I think almost everyone who knows me would say that I am, as they say, science. But I also think that those who know me best would say that I don’t fit that label at all either. And that without being literate, I also have a great interest in that field of knowledge.

For this reason, just before the pandemic arrived, the program of a Naukas Coruña in which we intended to explore that dichotomy and see if there are ways to build bridges between the culture of sciences and the culture of letters. Although the first literate intellectuals who began to talk about this division would not accept that science is culture.

But since the pandemic arrived and ordered it to stop, I was left with the desire.

Hence, he was very interested in Naukas Pamplona, The two cultures although I have stepped on the idea. Of course, since Javier, Joaquín and Nacho are friends, I won’t have it for them. very consider.

I couldn’t attend in person but I started to see him because of the talk of Juan Ignacio Perez Iglesias, Iñako for friends, originally titled Two cultures? I don’t get the accounts but it ended up being titled From Snow’s booklet to Aberron’s duck shit.

In it, Iñako defends that, despite the optimism of some, such as his admired Edward O. Wilson, who spoke of a third culture that would unite both, these two cultures will always have to exist. But that we should and can negotiate and build bridges to get the best of both. And he reasons it, of course, also leaving a lot of references to draw from.

Doesn’t seem like a bad idea to me. Although this habit of defining people as science or letters continues to scare me.
