/ Member of the General Assembly and President of the Iraqi Swimming Federation, Khaled Abdul Wahed Kabayan, announced on Wednesday that Aqeel Muften has officially assumed the task of President of the Olympic Committee, succeeding the sacked President Raad Hamoudi.

Ghabian told Agency, “Muftin has officially become president of the Iraqi Olympic Committee. The presidency automatically goes to the first vice president in the event of a vacancy in the position of president, as is the case now after the dismissal of former president Raad Hamoudi by the General Assembly.”

He explained, “The decision is being officially approved by the International Olympic Committee, and reassurances have been given regarding the General Assembly’s decision to take the dismissal decision, as it is the supreme authority to take decisions related to the Iraqi Olympic Committee.”

The member of the General Assembly confirmed that “decisions and changes will be issued at a later time, after the approval of the International Federation after the vacuum that occurred in the Executive Office.”
