Two officials and three former officials of the Judicial Council (CJ) are being investigated for alleged bribery, accused of soliciting money from candidates in the national judge selection competition.
These employees were linked to the Secretariat, the General Directorate, the Legal Coordination and the School of the Judicial Function.
By decision of the Plenary of the CJ, chaired by Mario Godoy, the officials have been relocated outside the areas related to the competition for judges. One of the investigated has a vulnerable condition due to a catastrophic illness, while the other was kept in office by the former president of the CJ, Álvaro Román.
Solanda Goyes, a member of the CJ, stressed that the officials no longer occupy central positions and that their relocation is due to administrative processes. In the last four months, the CJ has dismissed 53 judicial employees as part of its disciplinary actions.
Mario Godoy pointed out the need for a change of area for the investigated officials and confirmed that they are reviewing all administrative actions related to them, requesting reports on the matter.
As for former President Álvaro Román, who was replaced by Godoy, he expressed on social media his support for the actions taken by the Attorney General’s Office, suggesting that the complaints were filed during his administration and that most of the officials involved were dismissed during that period, ensuring transparent management.
The case is currently in the preliminary investigation stage by the Prosecutor’s Office, so the investigation is confidential. Recently, raids were carried out in several locations, where evidence such as computers and electronic devices were collected, which are in the custody of the relevant authorities.
