OFI – Volos 2-1: The Cretans were not spared

by time news

OFI with scorer and protagonist Toral prevailed 2-1 against Volos in Heraklion and maintains undiminished interest in the battle of the queue.

OFI was not spared in Volos. Although not in danger of relegation unlike Thessaly who wanted to escape further from the danger zone, they prevailed 2-1 thanks to two goals from Toral in each half.

Traianos Dellas used all the offensive weapons he had, while Christos Kontis lined up the same line-up that he had fielded a week ago against Atromitos in Panthessalikos, with the aim of – what else? – to leave with the double.

In general, the Cretans were better on the pitch and this was evident from the very first minutes of the match, when Toral made a parallel pass and in front of Iseka, Tsokanis put the projection and Kovacs collected the ball before crossing the line (9′) .

The hosts continued in the same pattern and managed to open the scoring in the 28th minute. Baku gave it to Toral and he attempted a headscissors takedown on Kovacs. However, he didn’t find the ball and it ended up in Riera who passed it back to Toral who made it 1-0 from the spot. OFI came close to a second goal as well, but Kovacs said “no” to Baku’s shot in the 42nd minute.

Eventually, the home side made it 2-0 at the start of the second half again with Toral beating Kovacs with a superb 49th minute finish. A minute earlier, the goalkeeper of Volos had saved Iseka’s header.

Volos had a good shot by Acehon that went over the goal in 63′, but in general it didn’t show anything special. He may have reduced the game in stoppage time with Lambropoulos’ own goal (90’+1′), but in no case did it appear that he could even claim a draw. Without problems the arbitration of Andrianos (Athens).
