For middle-aged and older people, whose importance as an economically active population is rapidly increasing, job opportunities will be provided, and for companies, a place will be provided to connect them with capable veteran talent.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the ‘2024 Seoul Middle-aged and Elderly Job Fair’, hosted by the city and co-hosted by the Seoul 50 Plus Foundation and the Credit Card Social Contribution Foundation, will be held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) on the 22nd. This is the second time the event has been held following last year.

This job fair, which aims to spread the atmosphere of hiring middle-aged and older workers socially and provide job seekers with practical job information and employment opportunities, is expected to be attended by approximately 3,000 middle-aged and older job seekers and 70 companies hoping to hire middle-aged and older workers.

At this exhibition, companies that recruit middle-aged and older workers in various fields such as distribution, logistics, and transportation, medical and healthcare, office work, manufacturing, technology, and sales and service, such as SESCO Co., Ltd., Hyundai Home Shopping, Doctors Without Borders, Talent Education, KB Life Partners, and C&COM, will participate and operate recruitment booths.

At the opening ceremony, there will be an award ceremony for those who have contributed to spreading the culture of hiring middle-aged and older people, and a presentation of excellent cases of re-employment. Mayor Oh Se-hoon of Seoul, Chairman of the Administrative and Autonomous Affairs Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council Kim Won-tae, and other figures from various fields will attend the event to cheer on the energetic steps of middle-aged and older people in Seoul who are about to return to work.

The city of Seoul plans to continue to support the reemployment of the 4050 generation through support programs such as regular company-specific middle-aged and older person recruitment briefings even after the fair. In addition, it will support the active work and activities of the middle-aged and older generation by providing various job education and training and job opportunities.

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said, “The importance of middle-aged and older people’s jobs to replace the youth workforce gap due to low birth rates and aging population is growing,” and “Supporting employment for middle-aged and older people goes beyond individual job issues; it is a growth engine for companies and an investment in the future.”

He continued, “We will continue to actively expand employment opportunities linked to private sector jobs, provide education for successful re-employment, and broadly implement retirement life support programs to help middle-aged and older people plan their futures. We will actively support middle-aged and older people preparing to return to work to find new opportunities and live happy lives.”
