The No. 1-ranked Wake Forest men’s tennis team suffered its first defeat of the 2026 season on Sunday, falling 4-0 to No. 6 Ohio State at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio. Despite a strong showing in doubles, the Demon Deacons were unable to overcome a determined buckeye squad.

Doubles Play Sets the Tone

The match began with a competitive doubles session. Senior DK Suresh Ekambaram and redshirt freshman Aryan Shah secured a 6-4 victory on court one, contributing to Suresh’s impressive record of wins coming against ranked opponents.

However, the Buckeyes secured the first singles point on court four, followed by another win on court two, extending their lead to 3-0. Ohio State then clinched the match with a victory on court six. Play was halted on the remaining courts, leaving several matches unfinished.
