Oil, Gas and Mining Contract Disclosure Plan Seminar

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) organized a seminar on the disclosure plan for oil, gas and mining contracts. The objective of this seminar is to enable the EITI Gabon multi-stakeholder group to meet requirement 2.4 of the 2019 EITI standard, with a view to the effective disclosure of contracts in Gabon. It was in Libreville, on April 19, 2023, that this meeting took place.
The opening of the seminar on the disclosure plan for oil, gas and mining contracts took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Recovery and many other Secretaries General. Several presentations furnished this meeting.
In his general introduction, Frédérique Eyang Béyémé indicated that the members of the college of public administration have the difficult task of being reflections of the will of the commitments of the government, therefore, of the Head of State, Ali Bongo Ondimba.
In his presentation, Didier Revandine, Director General of Mines and Geology, stressed that mining and oil contracts include the commitments of the State and those of the Operators. Also, he will make it known that the non-publication of contracts does not allow citizens in civil society to understand the risks and benefits that can be derived from extractive activities.
It should be recalled for useful purposes that the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is an international standard aimed at promoting, in countries rich in oil, gas and mining resources, the good governance of public revenues from their extraction.
