RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – Oil production in Brazil rose 5.9% in January from the previous month and reached a record 3.255 million barrels per day (bpd), showed data from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

The volume surpassed the previous monthly record set in October, when the country produced an average of 3.244 million bpd.

The result also represents an increase of 7.35% compared to January 2022, according to data from the regulator published on the internet, but not yet released to the press.

The natural gas produced in the country last month, in turn, totaled an average of 142.785 million cubic meters per day (m3/d), an increase of 1.89% compared to December and an increase of 3.89% in comparison with a year earlier. The amount was the highest since the record registered in October, of 148.75 million m3/d.

Average oil and gas production was 4.153 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), the highest volume since the October record of 4.18 million boed. The amount was 5% higher than December and 6.6% higher than January 2022.
