Two Hospitalized After Duplex Fire in Northwest Oklahoma City

A duplex fire in northwest Oklahoma City sent two individuals to the hospital early Thursday morning, January 22, 2026. The incident, which occurred near Northwest 115th Street and Rockwell Avenue, prompted a significant response from Oklahoma City fire Department crews.

Speedy Response to Heavy Smoke and Flames

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke and visible flames emanating from the rear of the duplex. According to reports, a passerby alerted authorities after observing the smoke. “When we got on scene, we had a lot of smoke, heavy smoke, and we had flames showing from the,” a fire official stated. The duplex is located across the street from Putnam City North High school.

Residents Transported to Hospital

One resident from each unit of the duplex required hospitalization. their conditions remain unknown at this time. Fire chiefs confirmed that individuals were inside both sides of the building when crews arrived. The fire began around 3:00 AM, and crews worked for approximately an hour to extinguish the blaze. Both residents were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of smoke inhalation and minor burns.

Extensive Firefighting Efforts

The fire department quickly mobilized a significant number of resources to combat the blaze. Approximately 14 to 15 crews were dispatched to the scene, reflecting the scale of the incident and the potential for further escalation. “We consider this a commercial alarm, and because of the size of the structure, the number of residents, we send additional resources to help,” a senior official explained. While the structure is not considered a total loss, the heavy smoke necessitated the additional support.
