A big plus with an electric scooter – no need to open your wallet for petrol. If you ask bike commuters you will know this. That too is a big boon for those who travel more than 75 km daily.

Now it is rare to see delivery people at petrol stations in cities like Chennai. I have met many delivery people myself. The reality is; A petrol scooter costs around Rs 2 per km; This is not even 50 cents per 1 km on electric.

Now employees like Zomato, Swiggy have switched to electric. A Zomato employee named Santhosh from Bengaluru saved almost 1 lakh rupees in 9 months by using Ola electric scooter. A picture of Ola Chairman Pavish Agarwal taking a selfie with Santosh is going viral on the web.

“I met Chandosh at the traffic signal. He owns two Ola electric scooters. He has driven more than 50,000 kilometers using those two electric scooters. As a result, he has saved Rs 1 lakh in 9 months,” shared Bhavish Agarwal, who happily took a selfie with him.

If one can really save up to lakhs of rupees in all these months… As many Ola scooter owners have asked, this is somewhat true.

For example, suppose a petrol scooter gives a mileage of around 50 km. Today’s petrol price in Chennai is around 102 rupees. That is, Rs 102 for 50 km, which is about Rs 2 per km.

Let’s say that if we take an electric scooter, Ola’s single charge range is around 100 km. Charging the Ola S1 Pro scooter takes about 5 hours and 3 units of electricity. If the house is Rs 4 per unit, it comes to Rs 12 for 3 units. That is, 100 km for 12 rupees. If you add it up, it comes to 8 km per rupee. It is a profit when the cost is only paisa per km!

Beyond this, engine oil, that oil is this oil, and the maintenance cost in electric scooters is not ripe.

What, sir, make a way for electric scooters not to catch fire here and there!
