Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) keeps his key election promise right at the beginning of the legislative period: On Wednesday, the cabinet approved the draft law presented by Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) to increase the statutory minimum wage to 12 euros per hour. An adjustment to EUR 10.45 is already planned for July 1, 2022. At the same time, the upper limit for mini-jobbers will be raised from 450 to 520 euros per month.
