Old pension scheme again in Tamil Nadu?

Government employees from many states have been demanding the re-implementation of the old pension scheme. Some state governments have announced implementation of the old pension scheme.

In Tamil Nadu, a new pension scheme has been implemented for government employees since 2004. Government employees are continuously demanding that this scheme should be canceled and the old pension scheme should be implemented.

The central government has canceled the old pension scheme for government employees since 2004 and introduced a new pension scheme. Teachers and government employees are constantly demanding that the old pension scheme should be re-implemented as there are no benefits available in the old pension scheme in this new pension scheme.

Subsequently, the old pension scheme has been re-implemented in Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Punjab and other states after accepting the request of the employees. Similarly, in Tamil Nadu, government employees are continuously making demands and protesting. In this regard, the state coordinator of the CBSE Eradication Movement said that the DMK in its election promise in Tamil Nadu has said that once they come to power, the old pension scheme will be implemented.

In this situation, the Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to send a detailed report regarding the pension scheme in Tamil Nadu to all departmental secretaries. It has also been departmentally directed to send details of employees who want to switch from the new pension scheme to the old pension scheme.
