Olive harvest: the “Aouna 2024” campaign of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency stops in the villages of Mikhmas and Al-Eizariya

Led by the Agency in partnership with the governorate of Al-Quds, this initiative concerns 1,500 farmers spread across 30 villages, using, in particular, electrical equipment and machines for harvesting olives equipped with portable batteries, ladders, tarpaulins, combs and bags for transporting the harvest.

On this occasion, farmers from the villages of Mikhmas and Wadi Al-Hawd in Al-Eizariya welcomed this support, which alleviates the difficulties due to restrictions on access to their farms classified in zone “C”, which requires coordination special.

For the third consecutive year, the interest shown by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency in supporting this olive harvest campaign is part of its annual programs and projects having a direct and concrete impact on the beneficiaries. in all social sectors, in application of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee.

In this context, the representative of the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, Fayhaa Najem, welcomed the efforts made by the Agency and its support for the “Aouna” program, stressing that this initiative is of valuable assistance to farmers facing the shortage of projects and initiatives in Al-Quds.

She also emphasized the need to strengthen the partnership between the ministry and the governorate on the one hand, and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency on the other hand, and to establish new partnerships.

Located 8 kilometers from the center of the city of Al Quds, the cultivated area in the village of Mikhmas is approximately 150 hectares. It is one of the largest villages in Al-Quds governorate, with a population of around 1,500 inhabitants, and land extending to the borders of Ariha governorate.

As for the village of Al-Eizariya, located just two kilometers from Al-Quds, its land planted with olive trees extends over an area of ​​7,000 m2 of Awqaf land, and is exploited by local farmers with their own means.
