Olympia 2022: doping thriller about Ukraine pilot Lidiia Hunko – because of meat?

by time news

It is the third positive doping test at these Olympic Games.

And the most controversial!

The Ukrainian monobob pilot Lidiia Hunko (28) was tested for the banned substance dihydrotestosterone.

Now the president of the bobsleigh and skeleton federation of Ukraine speaks out in her defence!

Mykhailo Heraskevych on the “Suspilne” website: “Why would she take anything? That doesn’t make any sense! You can’t hide anything at the Olympic Games. Modern science makes it impossible to dope and hide it.”

And where did the positive test come from?

Heraskevych: “The most likely reason is the consumption of meat in the Olympic Village. The German NOK advised against eating meat at the Olympics, because some substances are used in breeding in China that lead to positive doping tests. Lidiia ate meat before she tested positive.”

China is repeatedly accused of using the growth agent clenbuterol in animal fattening.

In a widespread campaign, English-language media in the host country denied these claims before the games began.

However, in 2010, the German table tennis player Dimitrij Ovtcharov (33) tested positive for the drug after a tournament in China. He had also pleaded contaminated meat and had been acquitted.

Heraskevych also wants to be acquitted: “Of course we will fight. In such situations, the athletes are disenfranchised. Even if it gets very expensive – we will fight.”

By the way: If Hunko had actually doped, it would have been completely ineffective. She finished 20th in her competition. Out of 20 participants.
