Baghdad/Al-Masala Event: Member of the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee, Khaled Kabayan, submitted an official request to dismiss the President of the Olympic Committee, Raad Hamoudi.
Kabayan said in a statement received by Al-Masala: We submitted a request to vote on the dismissal of Raad Hamoudi from his position at the extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly scheduled to be held in the capital, Baghdad, on Tuesday, December 5.
He explained that our request is legitimate as it was based on a set of legal supports under the Iraqi Olympic Committee Law No. (29) of 2019 and Bylaws No. (1) of 2020 and its amendments. We have attached to the request a list of legal, administrative and financial violations committed by the head of the committee during the past two years, as well as We indicated that several correspondences and communications were made with the International Olympic Committee – International Relations and Governance Department, which resulted in them receiving the dismissal request and agreeing to add it to the items on the meeting’s agenda based on the provisions of Articles (2-14), (2-26), and (1-47).
He pointed out that the General Assembly agreed with a majority of its members to dismiss Hamoudi from his position and end an era characterized by disrespect for the laws, regulations and internal regulations of the committee and the marginalization of members of the Executive Office and the General Assembly. He concluded his statement by emphasizing that the post-Hamoudi phase will aim to gain the confidence of the Iraqi government in the change project and obtain its financial support. Logistics and constructive cooperation with all ministries and government institutions to restore Iraqi sports to its true status and create sporting joys for our loyal fans.
It is noteworthy that Raad Hamoudi has been president of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee for 15 years.
