INTERVIEW – The coach of the French handball team spoke to Le Figaro as his team will challenge Romania this Saturday (5:15 p.m.) to begin its Olympic year.
End of January 2020. For the first time since the emergence of handball in France with the famous Barjots of the 1990s, the French team failed in the preliminary round of the Euro. On the bench, Didier Dinart, partly abandoned by his troops, had to give way to his deputy, Guillaume Gille, with whom he had shared, as a player, the glorious era of Experts. A promotion criticized by some. But quickly, the former center-half of Chambéry and Hamburg silenced the evil tongues by bringing the Blues back to the top with a third Olympic coronation in Tokyo in 2021 and a world final in 2023, lost to Denmark (29-34 ).
