From Monday July 3, the Française des jeux (FDJ) is selling its new scratch game, “Mon ticket pour Paris 2024”, in order to win tickets to attend. Players will be able to try their luck twice with this ticket sold for 3 euros: once to try to pocket up to 50,000 euros in potential winnings and a second time to win places for the athletics finals.
Hundreds of winners
“A hundred winners will be offered two very well placed tickets, to come with the person of their choice to one of the finals, explains Cédric Breton, director of lottery activities for the FDJ group. We will also take care of transport to Paris, stadium/hotel transfers, accommodation and catering. “Nearly 10 million scratch games should be distributed initially in the 30,000 points of FDJ and on the website of the partner of the Olympic Games, before possible replenishments until this fall. The game will be ephemeral and will only last “three or four months”, it is estimated at the FDJ.

A significant business challenge
The FDJ hopes to get with this “JO” ticket new players, less usual but more attracted by the enthusiasm around the event. They are the ones who bought the editions of the temporary games launched during the Olympic Games in Sydney, Athens, Beijing, London and Tokyo. How many will there be this time, while the event is taking place in France? The partner of the sports competition does not communicate its estimates. But he hopes to achieve many more sales with “My ticket for Paris 2024” than with the ephemeral game launched in 2017 to support the candidacy of the city of Paris.

“It was a scratch game at 5 euros, recalls Cédric Breton. We sold 10 million copies at the time. There, we think to sell much more. There is obviously a business issue for us: we wouldn’t launch it if we thought that sales would only represent a drop of water. This new ticket is one of the three big ephemeral games that we expect a lot from this year, knowing that we launch about one per month. »
And if the prize pool should be substantial for the FDJ (it collects around 4% of the amount of a ticket), the company is also betting on this operation to associate its image with that of the Olympics. “We are a partner from the start, recalls Cédric Breton. This is the first time that a game has allowed winnings in kind. For us, it is a way of reminding us that we are part of this global event. And not the last. During 2024, exceptional lotto draws should be set up and another ephemeral game – but without the possibility of winning entry tickets for the Olympics – will see the light of day a few months before the start of the Olympics.
