BOLZANO. “On the occasion of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics, a new event has been planned in Anterselva artificial snow basinthe approval process for the new infrastructure is lacking, with no environmental impact assessment and strategic environmental assessment, no consideration of the recommendations of the competent authorities and environmental legislation, the intervention was planned within areas with avalanche danger, finally the examination of alternatives was carried out superficially and the expected costs have exploded”. For these reasons the Umbrella organization, Mountain Wilderness, Climate Action, South Tyrol Heritage Association and Pustertal Environmental Association they filed an appeal with the TAR of Bolzano.
“The planned reservoir will have a volume of 31,500 cubic meters and consequently a huge impact on the landscape of the Anterselva valley, further amplified by the construction of a large avalanche protection structure. Despite the strong concerns expressed by citizens and environmental organizations and despite the fact that there were alternatives that were much less negative for the landscape and the environment, the municipality and the province have nevertheless decided to approve the intervention”, continues the note from the environmental associations.
