/ Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi confirmed on Sunday that the US strikes on armed factions in Iraq and Syria are “useless”, stressing the need to stop the war on Gaza.

Oman News Agency quoted Al-Busaidi as saying that his country is following “with great concern the ongoing escalation in the region without a solution to the outcome of the unjust Israeli war in the Gaza Strip and the fall of tens of thousands of innocent civilians, including children, youth and women, who were killed or wounded.”

He pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman’s vision is that the only solution to the conflict lies in addressing its causes and motives, starting with recognition of the independent Palestinian state and the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from all occupied Palestinian territories.

He explained that the Sultanate of Oman does not see any benefit in the retaliatory military attacks launched by the United States on sites in Iraq and Syria, and that launching such military attacks on sites in the region would threaten its safety and stability and complicate efforts to reach solutions to the challenges facing the region, including issues of violence and extremism.

Yesterday morning, Saturday, the US Central Command announced that its forces had launched air strikes in Iraq and Syria targeting sites of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and its loyal “militia” groups.

The raids resulted in 17 casualties, including the commander of the third battalion of the Popular Mobilization Forces’ armored directorate, who succumbed to his wounds, according to what a responsible security source told Agency.
