Omar Adam released a new song on Thursday, and the one who seems to have listened to him very attentively and chose to harshly criticize the content is Transport Minister Merav Michaeli. In a post she wrote on her Facebook, Michaeli wrote her objections to the song alongside attributing responsibility towards the singer and even demonstrated proficiency in the content. The song, by the way, has already garnered 450,000 YouTube listens.

“I wish I could be as light and cool as Omar Adam, I wish.” Michaeli opened the poignant post, “I wish I could say what the problem is, it picks up and bounces guys at parties and weddings, what are you guys up to. I wish.

“I wish I too could, like Omar Adam, ignore and deny the consequences of the racist, disparaging and humiliating words in his song. I wish. But unfortunately I am honored. Because I have just been dealing for years with the devastating consequences of such songs and the culture they represent and produce.

“I want to believe that Omar Adam is not an evil person. I want to believe that if Omar Adam had seen the girls whose lives were over because someone who heard such a song thought it was cool and what she cares about and what she is honored, he would bring this song out of the world. But he Does not meet them.because he chooses not to meet and not to see and not to face reality.

“It’s not just about Omar Adam, of course. All the stars who have such success and immense admiration, have tremendous power in their hands. And with that power comes great responsibility. Let’s be so popular and cool without causing such terrible damage.

“Opportunity for a beautiful decision for the new year. And in the meantime, girls, sisters, girlfriends – be sure – ha. You really should not – so I like no one like that. Happy New Year to you and therefore.”
