The Chinese Ministry of Health has advised Chinese people to handle foreign parcels with care and to wear face shields and gloves.
With just three weeks to go before the start of the Winter Olympics in China, the omega virus has spread to many cities across the country. On Tuesday, 127 people were newly diagnosed with the omega-3 virus.
Chinese health officials say the first person to be diagnosed with the omega-3 virus in the capital, Beijing, split a parcel from Canada and was found to be infected.
They said the parcel was shipped from Canada to China via the United States and Hong Kong, through which Omicron entered China from Canada.
They also promised to intensify disinfection of postal parcels from abroad.
The Chinese health ministry said postal workers handling the parcels had been urged to be fully vaccinated and given booster injections.
Similarly, the public is advised to disassemble their foreign parcels only after putting on face shields and gloves.
State television reports that the Chinese people should reduce their purchases of goods and parcels from abroad.
