21 years is a long time! This is how long RC Lens will have had to wait to hear their supporters exult over a goal in the Champions League. The last time a Lensois found the back of the net during a match in the most prestigious football competition on the Old Continent dates back to November 13, 2002. At the time Jocelyn Blanchard scored the 3rd goal for Lensois during ‘a completely crazy evening at Bayern Munich. A duel for butter which ended with a score of 3-3.

A little less than 21 years later, the scorer is Angelo Fulgini. The 27-year-old Franco-Ivorian midfielder scored, in the 24th minute of the match, a superb free kick from the edge of the area following a foul called after a festival by Elye Wahi. A goal which allowed his team to come back to the score on the lawn of the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium in Seville. To the delight of RC Lens supporters, gathered in town in front of a big screen.
