On August 15, another 30 days of Exception Regime begin

San Salvador. The Public Security authorities continue to capture remaining gang members, thanks to the tool that constitutes the Exception Regime, which will continue to be in force for another 30 days.

The new extension will enter into force on August 15; the Security Cabinet requested, on behalf of the government, one more period, because they will not rest until they capture the last gang member.

The opposition, made up of two deputies from VAMOS and Nuestro Tiempo, four more from the FMLN and another 10 from Arena, continue to oppose the regime’s validity, under the same argument of violation of the human rights of “the innocent”.

There were 67 deputies from Nuevas Ideas, GANA, PDC and PCN, plus two other dissidents from Arena who gave their votes, for the continuity of this state.

“If we were not united against this scourge, the results we now have would not be possible. El Salvador is changing, for the first time the citizens live with tranquility. It is easy to say, but it has been difficult, “said the president of the Legislative Branch, Ernesto Castro, at the time he received the request presented by the Minister of Security, Gustavo Villatoro.

At this point in the regime, there are already more than 72,000 criminals arrested, in addition to the confiscation of 3,000 weapons, more than $3 million in cash and more than $300 million in drugs.

These positive results justify the continuation of the Exception Regime, said the Security Cabinet, which claimed that for decades these terrorist groups were co-governing with previous administrations, subjecting the Salvadoran people.

In addition, despite the efforts of the authorities, crime has not been completely eradicated, as demonstrated by the attack that a group of gang members committed against several police officers, on July 30, in the Maquilishuat canton, in the municipality of Ilobasco, in Cabanas.
