Chennai: Chief Minister M.K.Stalin gave Rs.2 lakh fund at the rate of Rs.25 thousand each to 8 people for medical and education on behalf of Kalai Njar Karunanidhi Foundation. From November 2005 to January 2007, the interest earned on Rs.5 crores given by the artist to the Artist Karunanidhi Trust has been given monthly as assistance to the poor and needy.
In 2007, he donated Rs 1 crore out of Rs 5 crore to the South Indian Booksellers-Publishers Association. The interest earned on the remaining Rs.4 crores will continue to be subsidized. So far Rs. 5 crore 59 lakh 90 thousand assistance has been given.
DMK President and Chief Minister M.K.Stalin yesterday gave Rs.2 lakh each at the rate of Rs.25,000 to a total of 8 people as medical and educational assistance fund this month.
