Important personnel change in the WELT Group: At the helm of WELT AM SONNTAG, Jacques Schuster follows Dagmar Rosenfeld, who has been responsible for the weekly newspaper since 2022 and is now moving to “Media Pioneer”.
Dr. Jacques Schuster will take over editorial responsibility for the national newspaper WELT AM SONNTAG from May 1, 2024 and will become a member of the WELT Group’s editorial team.
The 59-year-old succeeds Dagmar Rosenfeld, who served as editor „Media Pioneer“ changes. As a strategic partner, Axel Springer holds a minority stake in the company.
Schuster has held various positions at WELT since 1998. Among other things, he was head of foreign policy at WELT, “Berliner Morgenpost” and WELT AM SONNTAG as well as head of Literarische WELT. Most recently he was co-head of the political editorial team and chief commentator.
WELT editor-in-chief Ulf Poschardt said: “A WELT AM SONNTAG without Jacques Schuster’s brilliant texts is already unthinkable today. It represents our concept of an integrated editorial team. I am very pleased that in his new role he will concentrate his skills and ambitions on the successful further development of the WELT Group, especially in the weekend titles market.”

“Farewell words must be short, like a declaration of love,” said Theodor Fontane. I think he’s right. And so I would like to say thank you, dear readers, for all the kind and critical words with which you accompanied me. For your loyalty, for your suggestions and for your trust.
Journalism that doesn’t lecture but describes, that retains its curiosity and knows the value of freedom – that’s what this editorial team is all about. It was a celebration and an honor to be a part of it.
