The supplement returns to newsstands (for a month) in a special edition with a multimedia cover: the certified work combined with an unreleased musical piece

At the center of a blue space painted in watercolor there is a symbolic tuning fork whose features resemble a human figure. The work of art that Franco Mussida created for «la Lettura» #626 contains all the research of the multifaceted musician and artist, who moves on the border between vision and sound. Mussida (Milan, 1947), one of the founders of Pfm, the historic Premiata Forneria Marconi, for which he signed many successful songs, entitled the work We are what we feel. Because the table represents man as a vibrant being, «a being made of organized sound, of solid music incarnate», he specifies. Which is in balance with the universe around it.

Franco Mussida’s cover is truly special. That on Tuesday 28 November he will appear on newsstands in a double collector’s guise: paper and digital. Issue #626 of «la Lettura», with all its contents, is back on newsstands in a special edition. From Tuesday 28 November, for one month, it will be possible to purchase the paper supplement with the cover marked “special collector’s edition” at the price of 10 euros.

In this multimedia edition, the cover designed by Franco Mussida comes to life. Through a QR code placed on a memostick you can access the work of art in digital format, certified thanks to blockchain technology. But not only. With the purchase, in addition to the visual work, collectors also obtain exclusive content: an unreleased piece of music that Franco Mussida recorded for the occasion.

It is a poetic piece of pure music: 4’45” for baritone guitar and synthesizers entitled Nuovi horizons of the heart. A song which, with its message of hope, presents itself as an emotional secular prayer for these troubled times. «The melodic tale is an emotional journey that smacks of invocation», explains the author: «It suggests visions of calm and peace, of warm horizons of light. A space to take refuge in when the inner pain becomes unbearable.”

Franco Mussida, musician, lyricist, painter, sculptor, writer, teacher, also founded the musical school Cpm Music Institute. And for 35 years he has been holding music workshops in prison. The song comes from here: «A melodic tale whose intent was to give a sound to the need for consolation that exudes in those places». Which is present today more than ever.

Thus the notes meet the image: «In this synesthetic work in which the word abstains from giving explanations – specifies Mussida -, music and painting find, in the vibrant figure of the painting and in the climate of a melancholic blue in search of consolation, the their common sense.”

With the visual and sound work of Franco Mussida, a new collecting project of the «Corriere della Sera» is launched which for the first time allows the covers of «la Lettura» to be preserved in both paper and digital format. A project that will be enriched by the works of other artists.

Furthermore, from January 2024, enthusiasts will be able to purchase digital works of art in the blockchain of «la Lettura» directly online through the Corriere Art Collection platform, created with Mioo tech technology (via apps and on
artcollection.time.news
). In this virtual space, digital collectors will also become part of a community and will be able to take advantage of benefits and discounts in the art world, such as access to museums.

And so the art covers of «la Lettura» embrace digital. When it was born on 13 November 2011, the cultural supplement of the «Corriere della Sera» took up the tradition begun by the historic «Lettura» published at the beginning of the twentieth century of hosting the work of a great artist in its showcase. Week after week, the cover is created by the most iconic contemporary authors. Now the paper tradition merges with technology.
