The head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, mourned the Sheikh of Martyrs, Omar Al-Mukhtar, on Monday, on the anniversary of his martyrdom, describing him as “a beacon and a flag for the worlds.”

Al-Manfi quoted Omar Al-Mukhtar’s words in a post on his account on the “X” platform, saying: “As for me, my life is longer than the life of my hangmen. Oblivion has buried his executioners, and the martyr Al-Mukhtar has become a beacon and a flag for the worlds and a memory for the martyr. May God have mercy on the Lion of the Desert and the Sheikh of Martyrs, Omar Al-Mukhtar, on his 93rd anniversary.”

Libya commemorates today, Monday, Martyr’s Day, on the ninety-third anniversary of the martyrdom of the Sheikh of Martyrs, Omar Al-Mukhtar, which falls on the sixteenth of September of each year. According to Law No. (5) issued by the former National Transitional Council on January 8, 2012, regarding national and religious holidays, Martyr’s Day is an official holiday.
