Although the married life of many couples does not always manage to stand the test of time, they usually survive at least beyond the wedding day. But this is not the case with one couple from Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, who decided to divorce on the same day – and the reason is completely delusional.
After the wedding ceremony took place and the two swore allegiance to each other, the dance stage came. According to local media reports, the woman asked the DJ to play a specific song that the husband did not like. The song “Meistra” that the woman asked for comes from Syria and belongs to singer Lamis Khan, and the problematic meaning that eventually caused the two to separate is: “I am dominant”, or “I will control you”. Although the lyrics of the song can be implied in two faces, the singer of the song has previously explained that the song speaks to the fact that women “control men with their femininity and not in any other way.” Despite the explanation, the groom seems to have seen the choice of song as an insult and provocation which led to a serious brawl between the groom’s family and the bride’s family. Now, this delusional divorce proceeding has been dubbed “the fastest divorce in Iraq ever.”
