However, the minister added that the conclusion of the last employment contracts with teachers is still ongoing. She emphasized that in order to solve the problem of shortage of pedagogues, municipalities are ready to pay teachers’ travel and rent expenses. The shortage of teachers should also be reduced by the increase of budget places in university pedagogy programs, Čakša predicts.
When asked how much balance of the school network and equal access to education has been achieved so far, the minister replied that the new financing model is not working yet, but if the government makes a positive decision, it could start working from September 1 next year. According to her, this issue will have to be considered in the context of next year’s state budget, and discussions are expected.
Chaksha admitted that there is still a difference in student performance both territorially and within municipalities. Several municipalities have noticed such deviations and are working on it, the minister said.
