In the second stop for bobsledders, simultaneously occurring, skeletonists have already reached the equator in the World Cup (WK) series – four out of eight WK stage competitions have been held. Skeleton players will compete in the World Cup matches in Sigulda on Friday, while bobsledders will compete on Saturday and Sunday. All day competitions start at 10 o’clock.
The Latvian team will compete with young athletes in both the bobsled and skeleton competitions,so there is no reason to hope for prize-winning places. The sigulda track has never been especially convenient for bobsledders. Last season, the World Cup took place in Sigulda on one day, and the European Championship on the second. The leading crew with pilot Emīlas Cipulis and pusher Dāvi Springis took 8th place in the PK matches, but in the European Championship, Cipulis with pusher matīs Mikni was in 7th place, despite the fact that in the start run in both races the result was in the top three. Jēkabs Kalenda ranked 14th with Dāva Kaufman on the first day (6th and 7th start time), and on the second day with Edgars Ungur – 8th place (7th start time in both races).
This season, only Kalenda’s crew is starting from Latvia in the PK circuit.In the first stage in Altenberg, kalenda’s duo won 7th place, but Jēkabs even got into the top six (6th place) in the foursome matches. two in Sigulda
