How to maintain tooth health? On the occasion of Dentists’ Day, which took place today, dentists from the Klalit Smile network give some recommendations for maintaining dental health and hygiene.

The toothbrush: the key to good oral hygiene is the toothbrush and it is important to choose the most suitable one. The toothbrush must be comfortable to hold and use.

The brush should be soft so as not to damage the teeth and gums. The size of its fibrous part should match the size of the user’s mouth (approximately the length of three teeth).

An electric toothbrush may make brushing easier, and even here it is advisable to prefer the rechargeable brushes, which maintain a uniform level of activity, over the ones powered by batteries, which run out of power with use. Brushing: Brush your teeth at least twice a day. in the morning after breakfast and in the evening before bed.

According to the classic method, it is recommended to brush the outer and inner surfaces of the teeth with the brush at an angle of 45 degrees in relation to the gums. You should also brush your tongue, as it accumulates a large amount of bacteria, which, among other things, are responsible for the phenomenon of bad breath.

Cleaning with a brush is not perfect and you must use additional means to clean between the teeth, such as dental floss, toothpicks or an interdental brush and once in a while undergo a teeth cleaning at the dentist.

The salted chips snacks, for example, are much more harmful to the teeth than chocolate. Other sticky foods: bamba, toffee, marshmallow and more. The ages at which you should start taking care of children’s teeth: as soon as the first deciduous teeth (milk teeth) erupt, you can clean them with a piece of gauze or a wet cloth.

After additional teeth erupt, brush with a very soft brush plus a small amount of toothpaste the size of a pea. A tasty paste with an attractive appearance will make the child love the act of brushing.
