On the Olympic boycott by Annalena Baerbock

by time news

Annalena Baerbock does not want to go to the Olympics. Or so she said. “I’m a big sports fan, but I definitely won’t be going to the Olympics at this time,” she recently told the German Press Agency. That was not usual for foreign ministers in the past either. She did not want to use the word boycott for herself, although her position on the matter is widely understood as such. The term diplomatic boycott has been in circulation for this for some time. The Olympic Games in Beijing, China, will take place as planned in February with the participation of all countries designated as winter sports nations. However, some of their governments refrain from sending the responsible politicians to the competitions as spectators.
