ON THE SPOT – Last night in Paris, you had to be as close as possible to the Eiffel Tower, at the Champ-de-Mars or in the Jardins du Trocadéro, in order to fully appreciate the July 14 fireworks. For this 2023 edition, the scenographer Christophe Berthonneau wanted to propose “a succession of proposals, like a magnificent trip to the Overseas Territories, but also (a tribute) to a whole form of creolity (…), to these cultures (which) were mixed from the great migrations”.

For its part, the Paris City Hall announced a sky “which will light up in the colors of the Caribbean, Portuguese-speaking countries, or even Cuba on the evening of the National Day” and a pyrotechnic show accompanied by a soundtrack “paying homage to overseas”. The Ultramarins were honored at several events organized this year in the capital, such as the Carnival Tropical, which took place at the beginning of the month. Soon, Paris Plages will be “placed under the sign of French Polynesia”.

Started shortly after 11 p.m., the fireworks lasted about twenty minutes, with particularly remarkable visual effects around the Eiffel Tower, with colorful colors: the Grande Dame largely concentrated the launches of firework rockets, supported by projections of powerful lasers.
