/ The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced, on Saturday, that civilian and military casualties had occurred as a result of US bombing that targeted a number of towns and sites in the east of the country, and near the Iraqi border.

The ministry said in a statement that “the area targeted by the American attacks in eastern Syria is the same area where the Syrian army is fighting the remnants of the terrorist organization ISIS, and this confirms that the United States and its military forces are involved and allied with this organization, and are working to revive it as a field arm for it, whether in Syria or Iraq.”

She added that “this aggression has no justification other than an attempt to weaken the ability of the Syrian army and its allies in the field of fighting terrorism,” stressing that “the Syrian army will continue with its steadfastness and principle in defending Syria, its land and its people, and in striking all organizations, no matter how much their sponsors and supporters try to obstruct this goal.”

The statement concluded by saying: “The occupation of parts of Syrian territory by US forces cannot continue, and the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces affirms its continuation of its war against terrorism until its elimination and its determination to liberate all Syrian territory from all terrorism and occupation.”

This morning, the US Central Command reported that its forces launched 85 air strikes in Iraq and Syria targeting sites of the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its affiliated militia groups.

US President Joe Biden has directed military forces to strike targets in Iraq and Syria used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and its affiliated militias to attack US forces, he said, stressing that although the United States does not seek escalation in the Middle East, it will inevitably respond to those who harm Americans.
