On the way to becoming a fashion capital: Dubai launches a new fashion week

After Paris, Milan, London and New York, now Dubai is also launching an international fashion week. The opening show for the fashion week will take place on March 10, with shows planned according to the global fashion calendar. In the shows, emerging designers will present alongside veteran designers, local brands alongside international ones.

Khadijah Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District, said: “Where Paris, Milan, London and New York were, now is Dubai. From economic activity to tourism and creativity, Dubai has carved its own space among the cosmopolitan capitals of the world, and fashion is an industry One that is increasing its status. All eyes are on the Middle East for fashion and creativity, and now the sky is the limit. Dubai has the vision, ambition and innovation to elevate the influence and reach of creatives around the world. Our emerging partnership with the Arab Fashion Council will strengthen our networks with international and regional partners and increase the industry’s contribution to the creative economy.”

The shows will take place in the Dubai Design District (d3). The Quarter is a global creative ecosystem dedicated to design, fashion, architecture and art. d3 is an innovative retail district offering a wide range of multi-brand boutiques, fashion brands, art galleries and showrooms. In addition, d3 is home to leading companies and talents including architects, interior designers, photography studios, product and fashion designers. Some of the region’s most popular events take place at d3 and attract international artists and audiences to cultural and fashion exhibitions and gatherings such as Dubai Design Week, Dubai Fashion Week and Sole DXB.

The fashion week will take place between March 10-15.
