Excellent performance of Bulgaria in the home rhythmic gymnastics tournaments, which took place in the first half of April. Gymnasts supported by Sports in Bulgaria Foundation, won a total of eight medals in the “Arena Sofia” hall during the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup. Bulgaria also dominates in the first week of April, when, during the “Sofia Cup” International Tournament, it won a total of fourteen medals.
For three days, “Arena Sofia” was a scene of grace and perfection, in which sportsmanship and beauty are harmoniously intertwined. The combinations impressed with technicality, but also a lot of imagination.
Boryana Kalein won the gold medal in the all-around and a silver medal in the club final, Stiliyana Nikolova took the silver medal in the all-around, two gold medals in ball and ribbon and a silver medal in hoop. The ensemble won the bronze medal in the all-around and took the silver medal in the ball and ribbon combination final.
In the ball final, Stiliyana Nikolova was perfect, brilliantly and with all the risks she performed her composition of “Arabian Nights” from “Aladdin” and took the gold with an incredible score of 36.950 points, which was the highest score of the entire tournament.
The level of performance of all gymnasts was extremely high, and the Bulgarian public was greatly impressed by the representative of Israel, Daria Atamanov, to whom the “Sports in Bulgaria” Foundation gave an award to the best performing foreign gymnast during the entire cup. The award was presented by the organization’s founder, Rosie McKee.
“It is my great pleasure to present the special award to Daria Atamanov from Israel for her impressive performance. We are proud that, as a foundation, we have the opportunity to support the prestigious forum that brought together the elite of rhythmic gymnastics.” shared Ms. McKee after presenting the award.
The international tournament “Sofia Cup” also gathered huge interest. The performance of our individual competitors Boryana Kalein, Elvira Krasnobayeva and Nikol Todorova was extremely strong at the tournament, which brought together representatives from a total of 36 countries.
The “Sports in Bulgaria” Foundation was one of the main partners of the two sports spectacles, which play a key role for the “golden girls” in their preparation for the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. There, Bulgaria will be represented by the national women’s ensemble, as well as by two individual competitors, which will become clear after the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Budapest in May.
