Something to note is that once the turtles lay their eggs, the eggs are placed in nests protected with mesh and marked with signs, in order to preserve the spice and prevent their commercialization.
But which Mexican beaches are the turtles’ favorites for their babies to be born?
According to SEMARNAT, the sea turtle nesting season begins in the months of May and ends in September. The incubation period is 6 to 8 weeks, so July to November is the birth and release period for turtles. Mainly in September and October.
And the preferred destinations are the following:
1. Oaxaca
Oaxaca is one of the most visited states for this activity. The beaches located between Huatulco and Puerto Escondido are known as the Oaxacan Riviera, where the beaches of La Escobilla and La Ventanilla stand out, considered sanctuaries for turtles, as well as Mazunte, which has the Mexican Turtle Center (CMT).

2. Riviera Maya
The Caribbean Sea is one of the favorite nesting sites. We recommend Akumal, known as the “land of the turtles”, and Xcacel-Xcacelito – both south of Cancún.
3. Riviera Nayarit
North of Puerto Vallarta, the Riviera Nayarit has several camps, including Platanitos and Playa Las Tortugas, dedicated to the protection of these creatures.
4. Puerto Vallarta

5. Baja California Peninsula
