First Brazilian athlete to compete in both the Olympics and Paralympics

The Korean women’s table tennis team won 3-1 against Brazil in the round of 16 of the women’s team table tennis event at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at the South Paris Arena in Paris, France on the 6th (Korean time).

This is Brazil’s one-armed table tennis player Bruna Alexandre (29). Alexandre, who has no right arm, made her first Olympic appearance that day.
Alexandre, who won bronze medals in the team event and singles at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics and silver medal in the singles at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, has taken on a new challenge at the Paris Olympics.

Alexander suffered from a blood clot when he was only three months old and had his right arm amputated.
Having started playing table tennis at the age of 12 and won medals in two Paralympics, he is taking on a new challenge this year.
Aleksandr, who also competed in the ‘BNK Busan Bank 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships’ held in Busan last February, earned an Olympic ticket in June and will now be able to compete in the Paris Olympics.
With this, Alexandre became the first Brazilian athlete to compete in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Alexander’s Olympic challenge ended after just one match, as he lost to the Korean players on this day, but he plans to challenge for a medal again in the upcoming Paralympics.
