Holder of two world titles in Thai boxing, Mamoudou Axcel Keïta, will end his professional career after 22 years of wrestling this Saturday, December 9 at the Petit Sory stadium in Nongo in Conakry. Axcel will thus put on his gloves to fight his last fight for “honor”. Friday, December 8, the Organizing Committee of this event entitled “Boxer for Honor”, hosted a press conference to take stock of the final fight of the double Guinean champion.

After fighting in around fifty countries around the world, Axcel decided to honor his country for his last fight in the ring. The ambition would be to end his 22-year career “in the most beautiful way”. He will restore the image to serve as an example to the new generation of Guinean boxers to whom he appealed to raise the country’s colors. He also intends to give his two cents to the Guinean Thai Boxing Federation.

Abdourahamane Keïta, general director of the structure art, initiator of the project, hopes to make Mamoudou Keïta’s last fight a springboard for this discipline in the country. “After 108 professional fights around the world, Mamoudou Keïta will fight his final fight in Guinea with a worthy opponent. He could do this fight elsewhere, but he expressed the need to fight in front of the Guinean public. This event will be unprecedented (in Guinea). We have guests from nine countries, including Éric Favre, renowned as the king of muscle, and Oumar Diallo, European boxing champion.”

Eight fights for honor

In order to give a new dimension to this sporting event, the fights will be preceded by an artistic performance. Despite not benefiting from the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (which is organizing a similar event next week in Conakry), Mamoudou Axcel Keïta intends to bring his project to fruition. He reveals that there will be eight confrontations including a women’s fight. Four national fights and four international fights. “My opponent was injured but we have scheduled another one who will arrive in Conakry on Saturday, it will be a surprise.”

Although he resides in Belgium, Mamoudou Keïta continues to proudly wear the colors of his country, Guinea, in the ring. This fight of honor that he is competing in Conakry marks the end of a world reign and an exceptional career of 22 years, during which he won numerous championship titles at a high level.

The most successful Guinean athlete, Mamoudou Axcel Keïta competed in 108 fights for a total of 72 victories, including 44 by knockout, 31 defeats and 5 draws.
