One of the defendants in the case named Rodolphe Jaar, who is suspected of killing Haitian President Jovenel Moise, was extradited to the United States from the Dominican Republic. He was detained there on January 9, and the day before he was taken into custody in Miami, according to the local edition of the Miami Herald.

On January 15, Jamaican authorities also detained former Haitian Senator Joel Joseph, who is the prime suspect in the assassination of the Haitian president.

Recall that Jovenel Moise was killed on the night of July 7, 2021. He was mortally wounded during an attack on his residence. The Haitian prosecutor’s office demanded that Prime Minister Ariel Henri be given the status of defendant in the case, but he fired the prosecutor who announced this demand.
