One person was killed and another person was missing in central Turkey due to flooding caused by heavy rain, according to the local news agency “Demirören” and the governor of the province involved.

The agency reported that a 52-year-old sheep shepherd died as a result of flooding near the city of Qarashahr, and rescue teams found his body “four kilometers from where he disappeared.”
She added that “citizens were also stranded” in the Golos area of ​​Kayseri after landslides caused by heavy rain, noting that “a large number of rescue teams were sent to the area.”
Kayseri Governor Gokmen Cicek said on platform X that most of those caught were “rescued”, adding that “search operations are underway for a missing citizen.”
For his part, the Mayor of Kayseri Mamdouh Büyükülic said through X: “The floods we saw today affected us a lot, but we will overcome this challenge with solidarity and determination.”
Flooding also affected other areas in central Türkiye, especially in the nearby province of Sivas.
In September 2023, floods caused by heavy rain left five people dead in northwestern Turkey, including two in Istanbul.
