One weightlifter represents Iraq in the Asian Championships qualifying for the Paris Olympics

/ The Iraqi Weightlifting Federation announced, on Thursday, that one weightlifter will represent Iraq in the Asian Championships, which will start in Thailand at the end of this March, and which are considered a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The media coordinator of the Iraqi Weightlifting Federation, Qasim Shalaka, told Agency that Ali Ammar Yusser, weight above 102 kg, is the only weightlifter who will represent Iraqi weightlifters in the Asian Championships, the results of which are considered qualifiers for the Paris Olympics, indicating that the federation named his father, the former international weightlifter and current coach, Ammar Yusser. Ali Ammar, coach of the women’s quartet, during his trip to the Asian Qualifying Championship.

He pointed out that weightlifter Ali Ammar will leave Iraq for Thailand next Saturday, the 30th of this month, in preparation for participating in the championship, and he will be the sole representative of the Iraqi weightlifters in the Asian qualifying forum for Paris.

He stated that the championship competitions will be held in Thailand for the period from the 31st of this month and will continue until the 11th of next April, explaining that the heavy weight competitions are held at the end of the tournament and according to the progression, as the competitions usually begin in weightlifting championships from light weights up to heavy weights.

The weightlifter, Ali Ammar Yusr, completed his training camp in Erbil, which lasted for one month, and is currently completing his training program in the capital, Baghdad, in preparation for the upcoming championship.
