Kochi: Three people have been arrested for stealing necklaces in a gang in public places. Perumbavoor police have arrested three women from Trichy, who used to gather people and break garlands in buses and public places. Devi (39), Shanti (27) and Anu (22) were arrested. They stole two Pawan necklaces from an old woman’s neck at a private hospital in Perumbavoor, and four and a half Pawan necklaces from a middle-aged woman in a bus.

The trio plans the heists very strategically. One of them, who reached the hospital in Perumbavoor, pretended to fall down in a busy place. Then when the crowd gathered, another woman in the group broke the necklace and passed away. Perumbavoor Police Inspector R. Ranjith said that the necklace was stolen when the bus was busy.

The Perumbavoor police caught the mover gang when they were planning the next theft. Shanti, one of the accused, was released from jail last month. Inspector R.
