Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage introduced limitation to the OneDrive Unlimited Enterprise plan – now users can store no more than 1 TB of data per user. Companies can increase this amount to 5 TB depending on the number of users.

Previously, users paid $10 per month for unlimited storage, now only the 1TB plan is available for $5 per month if the company uses OneDrive without the Microsoft 365 office suite. Microsoft said that “simplified subscription purchase process for customers using OneDrive for Business offline plans.”

Microsoft is not the first company to limit unlimited data storage for businesses in recent times. Dropbox has also introduced a limit for corporate customers – now they can store no more than 15 TB of data for three users. The company took this step because unlimited tariffs are often used for cryptocurrency mining or resale to third parties, and they can also be used by non-corporate customers for personal purposes.
