OnePlus 10 Pro falls short of iPhone 12 Pro on DxOMark test

The OnePlus 10 Pro is the flagship of OnePlus and it comes loaded with the latest hardware. The optics department has received special attention from Hasselblad and publishes a second generation setup.

The optical gear consists of:

  • 48 MP Sony IMX789 (f/1.8) primary shooter with 23mm focal length and OIS
  • 50MP ultra-wide sensor with 150° field of view
  • 8MP (f/2.4) zoom sensor with 1.0µm pixel size and OIS
  • Dual LED flash
  • 8K at 24 fps, 4K at 30/60/120 fps, 1080p at 30/60 fps (4K/30 fps tested)

DxOMark completed its rigorous testing with the OnePlus 10 Pro camera and reported its findings. Good aspects of the 10 Pro’s camera system include good dynamic range in daylight and indoor conditions. Details captured on the 10 Pro are also found to be good. According to the report, the camera is mostly free of image noise issues and the telephoto setting works well. The auto focus on the OnePlus 10 Pro was also found to be fast and reliable. Low-light video shooting also captures a good amount of detail and general features and puts them in stable motion.

However, the optics fall short in some areas such as in low light conditions where photography suffers from pinkish cast. White balance also finds success when shooting in low light conditions. DxOMark also notes the ultra-wide camera’s sub-par performance and videos suffer from a lack of detail even in good lighting conditions.

DxOMark awarded the OnePlus 10 Pro with a total score of 127 with individual test areas comprising 132 points for the image, 72 points for zoom, and 100 points for the video tests. This overall score is lower than the iPhone 12 Pro, Apple’s 2020 flagship which scored 128 points, by one point. However, many issues can be resolved via software updates and thus the performance of OnePlus 10 Pro can be improved.
